CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – FGASA REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVES

FGASA is entering an exciting new chapter as we continue to develop as a professional body and strengthen our connection with members across our regions. As part of this process, FGASA is calling on committed members to step forward to serve as Regional Representatives.

Regional Representatives are an important link between FGASA and its members. They ensure that the views, ideas, concerns and opportunities within their region are brought to FGASA, while keeping members informed about FGASA activities, developments and matters affecting the guiding profession.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for FGASA members who:

  1. Are committed to FGASA and its vision for the future of the guiding profession
  2. Have good leadership and communication qualities
  3. Are organised and committed
  4. Are willing to get involved and engage with fellow members
  5. Have a positive and constructive approach and are respected within their guiding community
  6. Have an interest in developing and strengthening the profession
  7. Are willing to represent the interests of members in their region and
  8. Have the time and commitment required to fulfil the role

You may nominate yourself, or nominate another FGASA member whom you believe would make a strong Regional Representative.

THE ROLE

The Regional Representative represents FGASA members within their region and serves as an important communication link between the region, the Regional Representative Forum and FGASA.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Representing members from the region at the FGASA Regional Representative Forum.
  2. Attending Regional Representative Forum meetings and the FGASA Annual General Meeting.
  3. Organising or facilitating regional meetings and engagement with members.
  4. Bringing matters, ideas, concerns, proposals and feedback from members to FGASA.
  5. Communicating relevant FGASA information and developments to members in the region.
  6. Encourage Continued Professional Development, provide guidance and arrange opportunities
  7. Supporting networking, mentorship, career guidance,  and engagement opportunities.
  8. Promoting FGASA and encouraging new membership within the region.
  9. Assisting members with information relating to FGASA professional designations, entry requirements and assessment routes.
  10. Keeping up to date with FGASA news, strategy and developments within the guiding industry.

The Regional Representative is not expected to act as a FGASA staff member or to manage training providers, assessors, lodges or reserves. The role is primarily one of representation, communication, engagement, guide development and support.

A VOICE IN FGASA’S FUTURE

This is an opportunity to become actively involved in FGASA’s journey as a professional body and to contribute to the continued development of the guiding profession. The Regional Representative Forum has an important governance role within FGASA to ensure that members interests are represented.  We therefore encourage members who have the commitment, leadership qualities and passion to make a difference to put their names forward.

NOMINATIONS

Nominations may be made by:

  • Self-nomination, or
  • Nomination by another FGASA member.

All nominations must be submitted using the official FGASA Regional Representative Nomination Form.

If you are nominating another member, please ensure that the nominee is aware of and accepts the nomination.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Following the nomination period, FGASA will confirm the nominations received and communicate the next steps to members in the relevant regions so that they can participate in the appointment process. This is your opportunity to get involved, have a voice and help shape the future of FGASA in your region.
