FGASA has been approached by the South African National Parks (SANParks) Honorary Rangers (SHR) to assist in a book donation drive. The aim of the drive is to equip libraries at rangers’ stations throughout the reserves with textbooks and reference books. The SANParks Rangers are responsible for protecting these iconic landscapes and all the life within them. These are the very people at the forefront of keeping our wildlife and natural landscapes safe.

The SANParks Honorary Rangers have become aware of a need among Field Rangers in our national parks for books.

SANParks Honorary Rangers has begun stocking small resource libraries at Field Ranger Stations in various National Parks with books. The SHR is asking members of the public to donate pre-loved or used reference books or field guides related to geology, ecology, flora, fauna, cultural heritage and natural heritage.

To all FGASA members, friends and supporters who would like to donate books to upskill and develop the knowledge and skills base of our rangers, please deliver these learning resources to the FGASA head office at The Farmery in Zandspruit, Hoedpsruit (click here for directions). FGASA supports this initiative by offering a collection point for donated books and putting out this call for help to our incredible community.
