Job Description:    
•    Assist with day to day running of the Research Centre. 
•    Assisting with current research projects & establishment of future projects

•    Eco Centre – assist with maintenance, upkeep and development of new interpretative material

•     Assist with the development, promoting and guiding of research-based tourism activities for lodge guests and other visitors.
•    Hosting of guests and assisting with service as required by the lodge manager.
•    Give presentations and/or demonstrations to lodge guests and visitors on ecological topics and research related projects
General duties will include:
•    Assist with the basic maintenance and upkeep of Research Centre vehicles
•    Assist with the general maintenance of bush camp facilities
•    Maintenance & development of all walking trails and main game drive routes within the reserves.

Remuneration:
R4500 plus accommodation, electricity, water and internet connection

Looking for a Management Couple to manage a privately owned lodge situated in Welgevonden Private Game Reserve.  Live in for the couple only, no dependants.  Salary R22 000.00 max.

Must be able to manage all aspects of such a property.

Lodge Manager role will be to manage the following departments:-

Must have a FGASA qualification and bush experience.

Manage lodge, including staff, facilities and equipment.

Day to day upkeep of the lodge.

Keep proper records relating to staff, purchases, breakages, breakdowns etc.

General safety of staff, property and equipment.

Oversee all procurement, stores and stock control.

Overall hygiene of the lodge and surroundings.

Conduct game drives.

 

Assistant Manager (Housekeeper/Chef)

Ensure that the main lodge and sleeping accommodation are thoroughly and regularly cleaned.

Responsible for the proper functioning and hygiene of the laundry, kitchen and dining areas as well as inspection of staff quarters.

Overall responsibility for the preparation of meals under the guidance of the shareholders.

Purchasing and control of bathroom and kitchen consumables as well as standard lodge catering supplies.

All administration and liaising with accountant in Johannesburg.

All menu’s and stock to shareholder who will be visiting the lodge.

Overall hygiene of the lodge and surroundings.

Stock take in kitchen, bar and chalet’s.

A position is currently available for a Professional Management Couple (preferably married but not essential) who will be responsible for the operational running and administrative organization of this well utilized upmarket member owned private syndicate lodge (unfenced). Candidates must have solid working experience in Lodge Management. Key qualities we are looking for include-Reliability, Proactiveness, Solutions orientated, Flexibility & Adaptability, High Service Ethic, Outgoing, Skilled Communicator (English) and People’s Person (including children) characterized by the ability to use diplomacy and tact. Management responsibilities include Staff Management; Excellent Planning, Co-Ordinating and Control capabilities; Excellent verbal skills – oral and written in English; Administrative Excellence around Accounting and Cost controls (Lodge Administrator); Professional Personal Appearance; Maintenance; Infrastructure Management & Guest Relations. The ability to work under pressure and enjoy attention to detail. No pets are allowed and this is a non-smoking environment.

The Lodge Field Guide must have a minimum of FGASA level 2, Certified Competence in management of Dangerous Game; Firearm Competency and License; First Aid; Vehicle Handling and Management skills; SKS in Birding and or Dangerous Game. Flexible Game Drives and certified competency on walking trails are essential. Knowledge of the area and previous experience in the Waterberg would be an advantage.

The Lodge Administrator in addition to the above Management requirements must be very well organized and extremely computer literate. Duties include: Welcoming guests, supervising the self-catering kitchen and housekeeping departments, staff training, managing a staff of three, stock and cost control, lodge purchasing, reports and statistics, ,invoicing members for usage etc, dealing with members enquiries and requirements for their weekly stay. When required, assisting guests with daily activities.  Experience in housekeeping and general hospitality essential.
