Kariega Game Reserve is looking for passionate field guides which have the following compulsory qualifications:

  • FGASA Nature site guide level 1 or 2
  • FGASA Back up or Full Trails guide
  • Valid ARH
The company shall provide guiding training programs and develop the guide as much as possible.

GUIDES - JENMAN AFRICAN SAFARIS (2013/05/22)

Jenman African Safaris specialises in small-group scheduled and tailor-made private guided safaris throughout Southern Africa. Our group sizes range between 4 and 12 clients. We operate camping and lodge safaris run in custom built 4x4 vehicles. We are currently looking for more guides, particularly German speaking guides.

min FGASA 1/CATHSSETA accreditation 
1st Aid certificate 
Valid passport 
Registered with National Department of Tourism
Excellent interpersonal skills 
Good cooking skills 
Excellent knowledge of Southern African areas, cultures and surroundings 

A valid code 8 or 10 license + PDP will be required when guiding with groups of 8 or less as you will be required to work on your own as a driver, guide and cook.

RANGERS AND JUNIOR RANGERS - THANDEKA GAME LODGE (2013/04/11)

JUNIOR FIELD GUIDE - LION AND RHINO CONSERVATION PROGRAMME (2013/04/02)

We are looking for a dedicated, committed, hard working, passionate Junior Guide for a work opportunity in our lion and rhino conservation monitoring programme in the Selati Game Reserve. It is a very good opportunity as the guide will not only guide, but it will develop research and analysis skills. The guide will have the objective to monitor and track the Selati lions, rhinos, elephants, leopards and collect data on other species, with the help of the volunteers that join our project.
 
The role involves:
• Normal Game Drive to specifically monitor our lions but also elephant, leopards and white rhinos
• Specifically monitor the rhinos and help in granting their security
• Farm management activities
• Koppie climbing with the volunteers
• Bush walks with the volunteers
• Data insert and analysis
• Writing weekly, monthly and annual reports for the reserve
• Creation of ID kits on lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos and spotted hyenas
• House works
• The guide will be on duty on a rotary basis with the other guides for the duration of 1 week
• Give FGASA lectures to our volunteers once a week on a rotary basis with the other staff members
 
Requirements: 
• FGASA Level 1 (Theory and Practical completed)
• FULL Trails Guide qualification (preferred)
• SASSETA rifle competency certificate and government certificate. 
• Valid DEAT registration
• Valid PDP license
• Valid First Aid certificate
• Previous experience as Field Guide or in similar research and monitoring environment will be and advantage
• Computer literacy skills including Excel, Word
• Fluent in English, spoken and written. 
• Positive, passionate attitude. 
 
Other skills/experience required: 
- 4x4 and off-road driving experience. 
- Ability to work in a team where both team and own responsibilities must be carried out. 
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds. 
- Excellent organisational skills, punctuality, commitment and precision
- Passion and knowledge for fauna and flora of the Lowveld region. 
- Pro-activity, self-motivation, flexibility
 
Start date: End of April-May
Duration: 1 year with the possibility of renewal

Job description:
Bushwise Field Guides (www.bushwise.co.za) is a well-established and reputable, leading FGASA accredited training provider, offering one year and six month FGASA Level 1 field guide training programmes to the local and international markets. 

Bushwise is expanding, and requires another trainer. This position offers a great opportunity for passionate, professional guides to further their own knowledge and enhance other skills which are required to be an outstanding trainer/ facilitator. 

The role involves: 
- Training learners in the form of class room based tutorials, and applying the knowledge practically in the bush. 
- Conducting game drives and walks with the learners. 
- Ensuring strict health and safety protocol in the field and at base. 
- Other duties to do regarding course outlines or maintenance around campus. This will be discussed with you and will be dependant on the skills you have to offer.

Skills required:

We are a tour operator based in Glenferness area (near Kyalami) looking for a candidate to fill a full-time administration assistant position within our office.
 
Description:
Candidate would be required to carry out duties within a team environment, so a good level of communication is needed.  
The role as administration assistant requires a logical thinker and attention to detail, as well as building and maintaining relationships with agents and suppliers. 
Applicant must be adept at computer skills and have knowledge of working with Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Travel experience in Southern Africa would be beneficial. 
Applicant must be honest, trustworthy & reliable, and willing to work under pressure. 

Duties to include (but not limited to):
Make bulk bookings for all accommodation in advance
Send final rooming lists to accommodation establishments 1 month before tour departure to confirm bulk bookings
Pay all accommodation establishments & send proof of payments
Find alternative accommodation when required
Book pre and post tour accommodation when requested
Book extra tours and private departure tours
Collection and updating of rates for accommodation, entrance fees etc. 
Draw up reservations lists for all tours
Compile all paperwork for guides to take on tour
Go through paperwork and tour details with guides before their tour departs
