BASIC COMMERCIAL CAVE GUIDING

The guide attaining this qualification will be able to research, design and conduct a limited guided commercial cave experience. He/she will present a well informed interpretation of general aspects of the South African commercial cave environment and the specific aspects of the natural phenomena on the site in question in such a manner that entertains clients. At this level the guide: - Is operating as a qualified nature or culture guide specialising in commercial cave guiding at a basic level of skill and knowledge.
- Has attained a FGASA nature/culture guiding qualification (either Local, Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3)
- Has the knowledge considered essential to register and legally conduct a basic commercial cave experience as a FGASA Basic Commercial Cave guide.
- Has been declared competent against the requirements of a FGASA nature guiding qualification and the Basic Commercial Cave Guiding theoretical and practical assessment.
- Has a valid, up-to-date recognised First Aid certifica

HOW DO I GET A FGASA BASIC COMMERCIAL CAVE GUIDING QUALIFICATION?

Once you have attained either a FGASA local, Level 1, 2, 3 nature or culture guiding qualification you can apply to write the FGASA Basic Commercial Cave guiding theory examination. Payment for the theory examination should be made to FGASA in the same manner as the FGASA fees. Application and payment for the theory exam can also be made at the same time as your FGASA membership application payment. Once you have been declared competent (passed) for the FGASA Basic Commercial Cave Guiding theory examination you can apply to be practically assessed. The practical assessment for the Basic Commercial Cave Guiding qualification is carried out by a registered FGASA assessor in a commercial Cave of your choice. You will need to take the assessor on a guided commercial cave experience in a relevant natural area of your choice (with or without paying clients), preferably with clients. The practical Assessment will be explained to you in detail by your assessor in the pre-assessment brief. The assessor will make sure that you know what you will be assessed on in order that you can prepare yourself for this assessment. (Payment for your practical assessment is done directly to the assessor and does not come via the FGASA office. Once you have been declared competent for the Basic Commercial Cave Guiding practical assessment you will have attained the FGASA Basic Commercial Cave Guiding Qualification.

HOW DO I GET A FGASA ADVANCED COMMERCIAL CAVE GUIDING QUALIFICATION?
